The show must go on! The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards is taking place on Sunday, August 30, which means viewers will still get a taste of the glitz, glamour and all of the unforgettable fashion moments that the awards show’s known for.
The 37th annual ceremony featuring the biggest stars of music undoubtedly looks different than past years amid the coronavirus pandemic. The 2020 show was originally set to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn without an audience, but the venue decided that outdoor performances were safer with the virus. Some performances have been pre-recorded from celebrities’ homes, while others are being filmed live among the different boroughs of NYC.
One of the biggest questions leading up the big event was whether or not there was going to be a celeb-studded red carpet like usual. So naturally, we were ecstatic to find out that they are! Keke Palmer, Nicole Richie, Madison Beer and more celebs have hit the red carpet so far, keeping a safe distance of 6 feet, per CDC guidelines, of course.
Based on the looks we’ve seen so far, the pandemic isn’t stopping stars from bringing their fashion A-game. On last year’s red carpet, we saw lots of sexy sequins and sparkly shimmer. This year, the stars appear to be trading unique textures for double-take worthy prints and bright colors, like Joey King’s colorful Versace minidress to Sofia Carson’s fire-engine-red gown.
If you’re tuning into the show at home, it’s airing live on MTV and its digital platforms at 8 p.m. ET. But if you’re just itching to know what the stars wore, keep scrolling to see! And be sure to back in frequently for an updated list of what the stars wore.
